Douk Audio & Nobsound: Making Hi-Fi Affordable

 In September 2012, at Guangzhou International High-End Audio Exhibition, we saw a wide variety of high-priced audio products. My friend Steve Xie sighed: "Can we only enjoy good sound quality at such a high price?" I pondered and didn't respond to his doubts immediately, but his words echoed in my ears for the rest of the week.

 "Our rights to enjoy high-quality music can't be deprived because of high prices!" That thought stayed with me. However, l looked at the current HiFi products, excellent equipment was too expensive and cheap ones were of poor sound quality. Should ordinary music lovers be forced to settle for poor sound simply because they have limited budgets? Did we have to abandon our hobby and compromise in the face of reality?

 "High-quality music can also be enjoyed at an affordable price!" I approached my friends Steven Xie and Michael Lau and shared my idea with them. After discussing it, we immediately agreed: "Let's do it." Do what we love as a career!

 Every day after work, we gathered to design products. Although we had endless enthusiasm, we were still devastated by the harsh reality. Long working hours left us physically and mentally exhausted. The cost of manufacturing custom molds was high, and our savings were not enough to support mass production. How could we produce a cost-effective product with excellent sound quality and distinctive appearance at an affordable production cost?

 After extensive research, seeking advice from friends, and visiting countless factories, we reached a consensus: reduce production costs by optimizing product size without compromising sound quality. More than a year of hard work later, we had made many optimizations in the design of circuit and appearance, component selection, tuning, etc., and finally achieved a relatively perfect balance between high sound quality and low cost.

 In 2013, we founded our own brand Nobsound and officially released our first product NS-01G, which quickly became popular at home and abroad and sold 200,000+ in less than a year. After that, we founded Douk Audio and One Little Bear, expanded our team, established our own manufacturing facilities and built a vertically integrated operation from production to sales, gained greater control over product quality and sales service with relatively low cost. Now ten years have passed, our original intention remains the same: Make HIFI Affordable for All Music Lovers.

Cyber Lau

The Man Behind Nobsound & Douk Audio, the chief designer of product appearance. Graduated from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of North China Electric Power University in 2013, he has been a senior audiophile since his student days, keen on attending various HIFI exhibitions and has unique insights into the development trend of audio equipment appearance.

Steven Xie

Founder of One Little Bear, hardware and software engineer. A self-taught embedded systems engineer with extensive design experience and practical ability, he is a true engineering enthusiast, workaholic, and now the father of three children.

Michael Lau

One of the founders, previously worked for a leading professional audio company and has been deeply involved in the field of conference room audio customization for many years. With rich experience in production and management, he has extensive expertise in cost management and quality control.
